Get Your Child to Understand the Difference Between the Letters b & d

Children often confuse letters that look similar. This is why, when teaching alphabet letters, it’s important to be very thoughtful and intentional about when you introduce each sound.

Here are four groups of letters that can be very hard for students to distinguish between and should not be taught at the same time:

  • s, c, o, a, e

  • p, o, g, h, d, b

  • k, i, h, t, l, f

  • r, u, h, m, n

The letters b and d are especially confusing for children. Share the video below with students who need more support with recognizing the differences between these two letters.
